Spring Skin Care Tips
March 09, 2010

Sure, skin care tips can be given all year long, but Spring is upon us, and for many Moms, that means the weather is changing for the better.  If you reside in the Northern States, or a part of the world known for long, bitterly cold winters, it's time to get your skin back in shape for the summer.  The winter months can be agonizing, and the lack of sunlight means our skin is short on vitamin D, as well as that glowing, radiant shine that we all strive for.  Here are a few tips to ready your skin for summer, which is certainly a time our skin is exposed on a much more constant basis.

Just because it's not a sunny 80 degree day yet does not mean that you shouldn't apply sunblock.  A good sunblock will not only protect your skin from the damage it can do NOW, but it can also have an influence on future skin wrinkles.  Be sure to use sunblock whenever out in the sun.  Just because it's only 50 degrees does not mean you should not wear sunblock.  In fact, I've had some of the worst redness on my cheeks when being under the sun in the low 50's.

Drink plenty of water.  This is very important for the body.  Water will help hydrate the skin and leave it looking silky smooth.  This tip isn't just for Spring, water should be consumed all year long, but it's especially important when the sun is shining down on your skin.

Moisturize.  Use a daily lotion or moisturizing balm on your skin.  This will not only enhance the effectiveness of your sunblock, but also leave the skin with even tone.

Lastly, use an eye cream.  You must protect your eyes from the sun, or you will get those nasty eye wrinkles.  Nobody likes eye wrinkles, and crows feet and eye wrinkles only get deeper as life goes on.  A protective eye cream can help stave off wrinkles and leave the skin plump.
